The machine is capable of making great espresso if you have the proper grinder. That said, this machine makes as good an espresso as you will find at any good coffee shop.
Otherwise, this will make a better espresso. As long as your double shots are timed for 25-30 seconds, the espresso will be fully developed with no bitterness and a wondful crema (if you have a good espresso blend). The steamer does an adequate job, as good as you can expect from a small machine.
It is very good. If you don't want to spend money on a good espresso grinder, I recommend a pod machine.
I have owned this machine for over 1 year and have found it to be reliable and easy to use. Most people don't understand that the grinder is every bit as important in the making of a great shot of espresso as the espresso machine itself.
It is well built and I have had no problems with it.
I've only had this product for about a month, we have used it about 3 times a week. So far it has worked great.
That is a good thing. We have a nice burr grinder that produces a consistently-sized result so the shots are predictable and delicious. So easy is this machine to use that my 19 year-old son is also enjoying home-made cappuccinos and Americanos (my preferred brew). I have been using a coffee maker similar to this at work so when I saw the Ariete priced so reasonably, I decided to get one for home.I carefully read the other user reviews and it seemed that the main objections were user-controlled circumstances that could be adjusted. I also like Amazon because it offers free shipping to Hawaii. We are completely satisfied with the Ariete. The bags of coffee now last 1/2 as long as they used to.
People there work for one fourth the amount we have to pay you. Maybe they don't and they're just making the machine based on a design that was given to them and they're just making the machine and going, "I wonder what this thing is for", except they're saying it in Chinese, of course. I suppose the guy who lives in India would not agree. It saves me a lot of money because I don't have to go to Starbucks to get espresso anymore. One thing of interest, is that this machine is made in China.
I love espresso a lot, so I was happy to obtain a machine to make espresso right at home. I have a job right now, but you never know if my boss might come in one day and say, "We've decided to close this office and open one in India. So, beat it." I hope that doesn't happen, but it's a cruel world. I didn't even know they knew what espresso was. This is the best espresso maker ever.
With the economy, that is a relief. He'd be happy to have my job.
One thing that is a little irritating is that you have to wait at times for the machine to convert the water into steam when heating up the milk. All in all I am happy with my purchase mainly because of the price. I am not an expert on this type of product however I can say that for the first time in my life I am experiencing an excellent cup of coffee every morning. Another is that I had to order a second machine because the first did not work.
