I lost a lot of respect for the company as a result of this purchase. She did. It leaks. I eventually got an address for the manufacturer, Lello, and asked my friend to mail it in with a description of the problem. No substitution. No fix. It begin leaking almost immediately. I contacted AMAZON, who offered me little assistance other than to say they would return 75% of the cost to me.
It was returned a month later with the same problem. Why AMAZON is still selling this product is a mystery to me. I bought this espresso maker as a gift, which makes the experience with it all the worse. The person I gave it to could not find a way to return it for repair, and had to contact me. No solution.
It could never steam milk without making it very watery, however I was aware that cheap espresso machines rarely froth milk satisfactorily. I only used filtered water and cleaned it according to the instructions. I cannot recommend this machine at all. Like so many other reviews here, my machine exploded after 10 month. I only made 2 cups of coffee per day in that time. I take my coffee with cold milk anyway.The manner in which it exploded could have resulted in an injury.
I bought this one as a back up machine as I love it - i have had other expresso machines, including relatively expensive ones but this unit makes coffee that is just as good and is MUCH more reliable. My original one is going strong after more than a year, i have had no other style that has been as trouble free as this one.
Sending it back, and Amazon crediting the shipping, so that's nice. Looks great but the pump totally strained to produce a bogus amount of steam. Back to the trusty DeLonghi that we had before.
I've been bummed all week not to have my steamed milk in my coffee. I'm back in business. He had the genius ideas to run vinegar through it. I have it next to my sink and fill it with the spray nozel. Sure enough, it unclogged the steamer.
The reservoir is the greatest, especially if your used to the one cup makers. However, i just got back from being on vacation for 9 days to find the frother not working right. Today i started shopping for new maker and mentioned it to my hubby. Yeah. I've had this coffee maker for over two years and just love it.
I've never had trouble with the grounds and clogging. We do it to his regular coffee maker all the time, didn't dawn on me to do the same to mine.
